Mozambique’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, João Matlombe, has been participating since Tuesday in a meeting organised by the World Bank in Washington, D.C., United States. TheTransforming Transportation 2026conference takes place at the World Bank Headquarters under the theme “Powering Jobs and Growth,” from 9–13 March, and brings together global leaders and experts to explore how transport connects people to opportunities and supports sustainable development. Minister João Matlombe today speaks at Plenary Session 3, which will focus on Safe, Clean and Affordable Mobility.
This session examines how transport systems can prevent road traffic deaths and reduce air pollution while making travel to jobs and essential services affordable and reliable for everyone. Minister Matlombe is joined by Becky Bavinger, Global Public Health Department, Bloomberg Philanthropies; Chandra Bdr. Gurung, Minister, Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport of Bhutan; and Mohamed Mezghani, Secretary General, International Association of Public Transport (UITP).
DuringTransforming Transportation 2026, experts will share examples of how investments in smarter, safer and more sustainable transport can increase productivity, strengthen resilience, and advance climate goals. Plenary 4: Resilient Corridors for Sustainable Connectivity is underway. How can stronger corridors support trade, food security, and growth?
