Periodic maintenance work has recently begun on the N14 road, on the Metoro-Montepuez section in Cabo Delgado Province, covering a distance of 110 kilometres. The most critical sections causing difficulties for normal vehicle circulation have been identified and prioritised for intervention, with particular emphasis on heavy vehicles transporting goods. The ongoing works are expected to reduce travel time, lower vehicle operating costs, and restore comfort and safety for road users.
“This route is important because it is used for transporting graphite extracted from mines located in Balama to the ports of Pemba and Nacala, for the distribution of agricultural and forestry production from the districts of Balama, Namuno, Balama, Mueda and Nangade, as well as for supplying various goods to these districts,” the note adds. The project is funded by the government and is budgeted at over 200 million meticais.
