Mozambican President Daniel Chapo has challenged the country’s Chamber of Commerce (CCM) to strengthen the business environment, empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as small local producers. “CCM should transform its 46 years of existence into a solid experience to boost local production and contribute to the reduction of taxes”, the President said, during a meeting held on Thursday, in Maputo, with the new CCM leadership. He also challenged the new leadership to be involved in defining strategies to strengthen cooperation between national and foreign businesses.
“We will work together with the same objective of developing Mozambican entrepreneurship, creating relationships with entrepreneurs from other countries around the world,” he said. According to Chapo, the results of cooperation between the CCM and the national and foreign business class could transform the organization into a modern, inclusive and more digital aggregation, capable of facing the current challenges of the market. For his part, CCM Chairperson Lucas Chachine, said that the organization will continue empowering national producers to become more competitive on the market.
“We have seen that our producers do not have access to our national distribution network, especially for high-quality products, and that agricultural production is one of the areas most in need of urgent training”, he said. Chachine believes that vegetable producers, for example, should have a structured distribution chain, including production, packaging, and delivery to the market. “I think this creates value.
