Fire authoritiessay the wildfire affecting parts of Mossel Bayis largely contained, with only the western flank still active in a hard-to-reach farming and kloof area near Aalwyndal. Mossel Bay Advertiserreportsthat the fire has been contained on the northern, eastern and southern flanks, including Island View, Aalwyndal and along the N2. The N2, which was closed last night between the Langeberg off-ramp in Voorbaai and Dana Bay, reopened at 05:16 this morning.

Firefighting crews from Mossel Bay Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management and the Garden Route District Municipality remain on scene. Weather conditions, particularly wind, will be closely monitored throughout the day. No structures are currently under threat.

The fire is estimated to have affected an area of more than 12 square kilometres. While damage assessments are still underway, authorities have confirmed that multiple structures, vehicles and other infrastructure were damaged. No loss of life has been reported.
