Moremi Game Reserve reopening postponed due to flooded roads

In a public notice issued today, the Ministry stated that the decision was prompted by ongoing rainfall that continues to affect road conditions within the reserve. The notice stated that despite some progress observed in recent days, accessibility remains a challenge due to persistent pools of water in several areas. They indicated that an assessment involving all relevant stakeholders will be conducted tomorrow (March 27, 2026) to evaluate the state of the reserve and determine whether conditions are suitable for reopening.

The Ministry further assured the public that it will continue to closely monitor the situation and provide timely updates as developments unfold. Moremi Game Reserve, one of Botswana’s premier wildlife destinations, is a key attraction within the Okavango Delta, drawing both local and international tourists. The postponement is expected to temporarily impact tourism activities in the area.
