Zimbabwe News Update
South African based tycoon cum politician, Joseph Makamba Busha has lashed out at President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s recent State of the Nation Address (SONA) saying it was detached from real economic problems facing ordinary Zimbabweans.Mnangagwa made his SONA during the official opening of the Third Session of the Tenth Parliament this week.
He claimed that the country’s economy was on a rebound, with this year’s projections indicating over 6.6% economic growth. But the opposition FreeZim leader said Mnangagwa failed to handle a great deal of economic problems facing the country.“President Mnangagwa claimed that the country recorded 6.6% growth rate but a jobless growth rate is not growth at all because the ordinary citizens have to feel it”, Busha told a press conference in Harare on Thursday.Busha also highlighted that the current state of economy can be measured by the number of Zimbabweans leaving the country to neighbouring South Africa for better opportunities.“If the economy is performing then how come the majority of Zimbabweans are still flocking into South Africa to buy goods and look for jobs , and any young person after graduating they’re going to other countries in search of jobs, so you can’t then talk about economic growth in a country where there’s no one single company employing 10.000 people “, said Busha. The opposition leader added that the President is being misled by the those around him.“The biggest challenge is that we have people in government and I hope that the president is not being misled or being lied that there’s growth rate in our economy when in actual fact there is no growth rate in Zimbabwe’s economy “, added Busha.TAGGED:FreeZim CongressJoseph Makamba BushaPresident Emerson MnangagwaZimbabwePrevious ArticleDOUBLE TROUBLE!
