The leaders of the MK Party/EFF in the KZN Legislature on Monday vowed to intensify it’s struggle against the government of provincial unity (GPU). This after the MK Party’s motion of no confidence against Premier Ntuli was defeated during Monday’s sitting of the KZN Legislature. On realising that they did not have enough backing in numbers, MK Party/EFF coalition MPLs then resorted to violence, manhandling members of the police, and subjecting KZN Legislature Speaker Nontembeko Boyce to physical violence.

Addressing MK Party and EFF supporters after the sitting, EFF provincial chairperson Mongezi Twala rejected do the government of the GPU led by Ntuli as “illegitimate”. “The people of this province rejected all of them during last year’s elections and yet they claim to be a government of the people. “What they should know as long as they are still in office, we will not rest,” he said.
