Government has observed that the planned delimitation of constituencies following the passing of Bill 7 will accelerate development across the country. Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Chipoka Mulenga says the delimitation exercise will result in not only increased Constituencies but also increased allocation of resources to districts. Mr Mulenga disclosed that Kasama was likely to benefit from the delimitation of its constituencies, which are considered vast.

Mr Malakani explained that there was need for government to work on the ablution block at the market and road network. “We have been trading in conditions that are not conducive, we need an ablution block here, the roads are bad, we you call on you as government to work on such things,” he appealed. Another marketer, Theresa Musonda, urged government to force all street vendors to go into the markets.

Ms Musonda said the marketeers in the markets were not making sales because people were unable to enter the markets due to street vending. ” We appreciate what government is doing in bringing development, however, us as traders have been affected by street vendors trading outside the market, we call on government to force everyone into the market so that we trade together,” she said.
