Civil servants infiltrated the Farm Inputs Subsidy Programme (Fisp), a scheme intended to support Malawi’s most vulnerable farmers, by fraudulently adding their names to the list of beneficiaries, Agriculture Minister Roza Mbilizi revealed Tuesday.
Briefing reporters in Lilongwe, Mbilizi said about 3,800 government employees had been flagged in the system after illegally registering themselves to access subsidised fertiliser.
