On the already aired first episode, a mother planning her 18-year-old son’s ceremony in Butterworth, Eastern Cape, reveals she has spent more than R600 000 on preparations.

This includes building her son a fully furnished cottage in the yard, décor, food, hiring bikers to attend, and arranging for horses to welcome him. This is just the beginning of the lengths mothers are willing to go, and the amounts they’re willing to pay, to mark their sons’ transition into manhood. The screening drew an impressive guest list including media personalityClaire Mawisa, actress Zenande Mfenyana, presenter Sisa Hewana and broadcaster Pearl Modiadie.
Everyone gathered to witness the debut episode. The atmosphere was one of reflection and celebration. Attendees experienced a show that felt both culturally significant and refreshingly intimate.
