Respected global speaker, author, and healthcare entrepreneur Tatenda Matirongo is set to launch her first ever children’s book titled Rotai the Dreamer next Saturday at Greytsone Park Primary School in Harare.
Matirongo, who is also the director at the Centre for Diabetes Management in Harare, said she was dedicated to inspiring everyone including young people to dream big and live positively hence the launch of the new book.
“The true essence of living lies in touching lives and inspiring hope through your deeds and I am happy I am doing that in all aspects of my life as an author, speaker and entrepreneur,” she said.
“My new book Rotai the Dreamer is a whole new high for me as it is designed to inculcate a culture of reading and dreaming big in our people even at a tender age.
“We are applying ‘the catch them young’ strategy though this book and my dream is to see it in all our schools, communities and becoming a part of every child’s life.”
A highly motivated doer whose previous writings and book launches have attracted national attention, Matirongo said she believes in the transformative power of stories and the written word and hopes to achieve a lot of positives with the new book.
“I believe in the transformative power of stories and the book Rotai the Dreamer named after the Shona word for “dream,” serves as a beacon of hope for children, encouraging them to cultivate their dreams from a tender age,” Matirongo said.
“Whatever your circumstances, you should never stop dreaming even when the world is up in arms against your dreams as seen through the experiences of Rotai in the soon to be published book. “The possibilities are endless as long you stay true to your dreams.”
The book captures how one can conquer the harshest challenges in life even when the environment says otherwise.
“The story is set in a small village nestled between a steep barren hill and a shimmering river, where a boy named Rotai, affectionately known as ‘The Dreamer’ lived. While other villagers toiled in their fields, Rotai found joy beneath the shade of the old musasa tree, sketching grand adventures in his mind,” Matirongo said.
“Despite his vivid imagination, Rotai faced the harsh realities of life.
“His family struggled after his father fell ill, leaving his mother, Hazvinei, to provide for them as a seamstress and all that painted a gloomy picture for him.”
However, the story takes a positive turn when a new discovery led to a new innovation and idea that turned Rotai’s fortunes and those of his fellow villages for the better.
“One day, while wandering through dry fields, Rotai discovered a barren patch of land that stirred something deep within him,” Matirongo said
“He envisioned vibrant greens sprouting from the cracked earth, nourishing his family and neighbors.
