A 56-year-old man has been shot dead and a 40-year-old woman seriously injured after their vehicle came under fire on the R33 near Crammond on Monday. Mi7 National Group said paramedics were dispatched shortly before midday following initial reports of a motor vehicle accident. However, on arrival, emergency teams discovered a far more serious incident.
The vehicle had veered off the road and down an embankment and was riddled with nearly a dozen bullet holes. The driver, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, was declared dead at the scene. The woman passenger was found in a serious condition with gunshot wounds.
Advanced Life Support paramedics stabilised her before transporting her to hospital for further treatment. According to the injured woman, the pair were travelling along the R33 when another vehicle approached, and gunmen opened fire. Mi7 extended condolences to the family of the deceased and wished the injured woman a full recovery.
