Lucas Ribeiro Costa Bags Four Awards at 2024/25 PSL Awards, Including Footballer of the Season

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Lucas Ribeiro Costa stole the show at the 2024/25 PSL Awards, bagging an impressive four accolades during the glittering ceremony held yesterday evening.

Costa was named PSL Footballer of the Season, Betway Premiership Player’s Player of the Season, and also secured the Golden Boot as the league’s top goalscorer. He rounded off his incredible night by clinching the Goal of the Season award.

Mamelodi Sundowns Celebrate Lucas

The club took to Instagram to shower praise on the Brazilian forward. In one post, they wrote:

In a video shared by the club, Ribeiro Costa thanked everyone who supported him throughout the season.

“It has been an incredible season,” he said, expressing appreciation to his teammates, coach, supporters, and everyone who voted for him.

Mamelodi Sundowns also received the prestigious Chairman’s Award, recognising them as the best African team in the tournament.

The award was presented by PSL Chairman Dr Irvin Khoza.

Elsewhere, Miguel Cardoso was crowned DStv Premiership Coach of the Season, edging out Steve Barker and Jose Riveiro.

Orlando Pirates’ Relebohile Mofokeng also had a night to remember, walking away with two awards:

  • MTN8 Last Man Standing
  • DStv Premiership Young Player of the Season
