Malawi’s brightest young netball talents are set to take center stage this weekend as the country hosts the Mukuru Under-21 National Netball Finals, a tournament aimed at nurturing talent, empowering young women, and shaping the future of the sport.

The three-day event runs from Friday, 30th January to Sunday, 1st February 2026, at the KUHES High Performance Centre in Blantyre.

Twelve Under-21 teams from across the nation will compete, showcasing the next generation of national netball stars.

Yamikani Kauma, General Secretary of the Netball Association of Malawi, said the finals represent far more than a competition. “The U21 category is where the future of netball is shaped,” Kauma said. “With Mukuru’s support, this tournament provides a pathway for growth, confidence, and leadership for young women nationwide.”

The teams taking part include Kukoma Babies, Prison Reserves, Lydia Academy, Lioness Youth, Vanessa Youth, Baby Eagles, Sparkle Foundation, Mzimba Queens Reserve, Giants NC Reserve, Moyale Sisters, Tigresses Cubs, and Chitipa Home Sisters.

Fans can expect high-octane action as these squads vie for national recognition.

The tournament is sponsored by Mukuru, reflecting the company’s commitment to youth development, women’s sport, and community empowerment.

Organizers say such sponsorship provides young athletes with exposure, experience, and leadership skills both on and off the court.

Beyond the games, attendees can enjoy vibrant court branding, fan engagement activities, media coverage, and community outreach initiatives. Mukuru products will also be available, adding to the lively, interactive atmosphere.

To ensure fair play, all teams must present valid identification cards to verify player ages before the tournament begins.

Organizers warn that failure to comply may result in disqualification.
