The Malawi under-20 women’s National Team head coach, Maggie Chombo, has released a 27-member provisional squad to begin preparations for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup preliminary round qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau in February.

Chombo has added 18 players who were part of the previous squad which challenged South Sudan in September 2025 during the second preliminary round of the U-20 World Cup qualifiers.

Ascent Academy has provided 6 players, Kukoma Mtopwa 6, Silver Strikers women’s 3, Ekhaya FC women 2, Civil service women 3 while other players have been called from FACT, Chitoliro Heroines, Mzuzu city Hammers Queens, and Might Wanderers Queens

The team is expected to arrive at camp in Chiwembe, Blantyre, on 26 January.

The young scochers will begin their World Cup qualifying journey away in Bissau on 7 February before hosting the return leg at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe the following week.

The winner on aggregate will advance to the final qualifying round, where they will face the winner of the match between Nigeria and Senegal.
