If anyone needed any reminder of what Valentine’s Day means then all they needed was to find space in Soche Hall at Sunbird Mount Soche on Saturday evening. This was the venue Classic Events and DJ Kenny Entertainment hosted the Love and Vibes Valentine’s Day concert. The platform defined the day and its value.
Patrons comprising couples and singles turned up in large numbers. The black, red and white colours, synonymous with Valentine’s Day, oozed elegance. Love was indeed in the air.
As per the night’s schedule, things got up and running exactly 7pm. The event’s hosts, Che Kalonda and Nicole ensured they updated patrons about the events. Performances from Mazani and Malonie set the tone for what turned out to be a glamorous night.

The new kid on the block Loiso had a chance to stake his claim on the narrative. It was an opportunity he embraced gracefully. Backed by a live band, the blossoming artist didn’t look fazed by the sold-out crowd.
The patrons wowed him on as he did the song and the reaction spurred him to ride higher. The song accorded him a chance to depart the stage on a high. Then it was time for the Lilongwe-based Afro-dance artist Saint to showcase his magic.
He introduced himself on stage by rolling back the hands of time when he did his old classicDelilah. It was a moment to behold. His energy and passion were unmatched.
He drew the patrons in with his performance, dishing out both his old and new compositions such asNdivayilira. The responsibility to bring the curtain down on the event fell on Namadingo. When the hosts announced his arrival on stage, the Soche Hall roared in excitement.
The man they were waiting for appeared in his trademark white shirt, black pair of trousers and spotting a traditional Ngoni crown, commonly known as mthini. Sakaka was his first song and just as expected, he received a round of applaud. As he exited the stage, one thing was clear among the patrons.
Namadingo hadn’t performed the award-winning hit Tuli and he was called back on stage. He obliged and the Soche Hall erupted into ecstasy. After that, he was allowed to go, marking the end of the business for the night.
One of the patrons, Millicent Mdoka said: “The event was well organised. But maybe next time the artists should try to come up with a playlist that reflects the theme of the event. It was Valentine’s Day and people expected to listen to dominant love songs. Otherwise, it was a good event.”
