Losing Zanu PF Bulawayo Central candidate Tendai Charuka is expected to appear in court tomorrow after prosecutors added his name to a docket involving three men accused of assaulting Vendors4ED national chairman Samu Jere.Jere approached prosecutors on 26 January requesting that Charuka be added to the case when the three accused initially appeared in court. He alleges that the trio was hired by Charuka to assassinate him, claiming the former Vendors4ED patron must therefore be included in the docket.Indications are that Charuka has since been added and is expected to appear in Court 4 at 8am alongside the other accused persons.The three – Tonderai Gondo (42) of Thornbrough, Rangemore; Raymond Muringa (27) of United Bulawayo Hospitals marriage quarters; and Nqobizitha Munyanyi (45) – appeared in court on 26 January charged with assault and were remanded to 30 January. They were released on US$100 bail each.Their bail conditions include reporting to their nearest police stations every Wednesday and refraining from interfering with state witnesses.The trio allegedly assaulted Jere on 16 January.Charges have also been filed against another alleged gang member, Tinashe Marima, for issuing threats against Jere.

He is also expected to appear in court tomorrow.Jere alleges that the three suspects were paid US$2 500 by Charuka to kill him after he exposed alleged misuse of part of the US$200 000 empowerment fund involving former chairman Samora Chisvo, former secretary Bright Kwinjo and five suspended Bulawayo members of Vendors4ED.
