Phakathi said the district’s team recent silver medal at the SPAR SA Senior Netball Championships in Boksburg is clear proof of their strength and growing influence on the court. “I tell you, these girls are magic and are good players. I am very happy about their standard, and I can tell you they are capable of turning the tables against any opponents,” she said.

Phakathi praised the squad for their unity, discipline and consistency throughout the gruelling, week-long tournament in Gauteng. “For the entire event our players played like a team. The sisterhood was just amazing and the team spirit all the way tops.

“I’m genuinely proud of how our district performed; the players worked hard, stayed disciplined, and represented uMgungundlovu with their hearts,” said Phakathi. “We really need to keep netball alive, organised and played on a regular basis. Of course, there’s always room to grow, but I’m happy with the progress we’ve made and the position we achieved.
