Head Coach Arne Slot has been sacked by Liverpool after two seasons in charge, the club confirmed on Saturday. The Dutchman, 47, guided the Reds to their 20th league title in his debut season, matching Manchester United’s record and delivering Liverpool’s first Premier League crown since 2020. Tge BBC reports that his second campaign however, ended in disappointment.
Liverpool finished fifth in the Premier League, 25 points behind champions Arsenal, and recorded 60 points – their lowest tally since the 2015-16 campaign. Liverpool have now turned their attention to a replacement, with recently departed Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola emerging as the leading contender. The club have approached the Spaniard to discuss the role, with talks expected to focus on his high-pressing style and record of developing young players. Slot departs Anfield with one Premier League winners’ medal and the respect of players and fans, but FSG will hope a new appointment can restore Liverpool’s challenge for domestic silverware next season.
