Letters | Illegal war against Iran must be ended immediately

I unequivocally condemn Israel and the United States, for their unprovoked attacks on Iran. These military strikes are illegal, unjustified, and a blatant violation of international law and Iran’s sovereignty. They threaten not just the region, but global peace.

The United States’ backing of the Israeli regime’s aggression is deeply troubling. Such support encourages military violence, destabilises the Middle East, and undermines every effort towards diplomacy, peace and conflict resolution. War and coercion cannot replace dialogue and respect for sovereign nations.

This illegal war against Iran must end immediately. The international community cannot stand by while fundamental principles of international law are trampled. As a South African shaped by the brutal legacy of apartheid, I understand the moral duty to oppose injustice wherever it occurs.
