It seems that Fifa has finally solved the mystery of how to win a Nobel Peace Prize without the tedious requirement of peace. After U.S. President Donald Trump failed to secure the Nobel Prize, Fifa obligingly conjured a “Peace Prize” and handed it to him at the World Cup 2026 draw in Washington recently.
This is the same organisation that fines players for political messages, while insisting football “cannot solve geopolitical issues”. Yet it now apparently has no trouble manufacturing honours for a president arming Israel, threatening Venezuela and calling Somalis “garbage”.
