When the war in the Ukraine started, (2023) president Joe Biden swore that the Russian Nordstream pipeline, which supplied cheap gas to Germain industries must be destroyed.

It was sabotaged, allowing the US to replace Russian supplies with American gas at three times the cost.

That precipitated a decline in German manufacturing, even as we speak.

Trump has repeated Biden’s policy, keeping the US$350 billion (estimate) assets seized.

He proposes, as we speak that the Europeans use the assets to pay for US weapons and hand them over to the Ukraine in their resistance to Russia.

But there is more.

China and India, which have been friendly to the US, find themselves under threat of “secondary sanctions” buying Russian oil.

There is a list at the US State Department of 1 000 activities on the sanctions list.

The one which Zimbabweans will understand is that bank accounts (and money transfers) of Zimbabwean officials are frozen.

The painful part is that a Russian businessman, whose assets (ships and bank accounts) are frozen has nothing to do win the Russian leadership.
