Launch drive: Volvo’s next-gen ES90 Sedan

Remember the hit songs by English outfit Depeche Mode,Get the Balance RightandEnjoy the Silence? Well, those songs are so synonymous with Volvo Car SA and their newly launched, fully-electric sedan — the ES90. Volvo has produced the perfect balance between man and machinery.

But the ES90 is also about enjoying the silence. Yes, it is that quiet. The media was introduced to this sleek-looking sedan in KwaZulu-Natal recently as we headed out from the northern suburbs to the scenic and airy Midlands.

Lots of twists and turns, uphill and downhill, and flat straights on the R103, as we made our way out of the city. And all the while, the Volvo ES90 performed like a philharmonic orchestra. Perfect balance as my co-driver and I enjoyed the silence.
