The first batch of hearses carrying the remains of 14 Zimbabweans who died in a bus accident in South Africa has arrived in the country by road.
They have been taken to the Doves Funeral Services parlour in Beitbridge, where Local Government Minister Daniel Garwe is set to lead a mass memorial service.
Scores of residents from Beitbridge have also arrived to offer compassionate support to the relatives of those who have perished.
A sombre environment is obtaining with relatives consoling each other.
The bodies arrived in the country accompanied by Zimbabwean embassy staff in South Africa.
A total of 44 people, including Malawians and Zimbabweans, died when a DNC bus plunged into a cliff near Makhado town.
The bus was headed for Harare.
Among those who perished are 36 Zimbabweans and eight Malawians.
