Lauren Fredericks, a social worker, has tragically died during adverse weather conditions in Knysna in the Western Cape. As adverse weather conditions continue across parts of the Western Cape, the family of a social worker is still reeling in shock after her death. Lauren Fredericks, 37, was on duty when she tragically lost her life when a tree fell on her vehicle during harrowing weather conditions in Knysna on Wednesday.

Speaking to IOL, family spokesperson Kelly Martin said the family is devastated by this tragic loss. “She was originally from Atlantis, and her loss is felt from the Garden Route to the West Coast by all who knew and loved her. She was a deeply compassionate and dedicated social worker who spent her life helping and supporting others.

She touched many lives through her kindness, strength, and commitment to her community,” Martin said. Lauren Fredericks was on duty at the time of her tragic passing. Fredericks lost her life while on duty. She was conducting assessments during the severe weather conditions.
