The King’s spokesperson, Prince Thulani Zulu, said the King had decided to speak on the matter during the commemoration of the Battle of Isandlwana, to be held in Isandlwana on Thursday. Zulu said the King was deeply concerned about “inflammatory” statements that are being shared online and that have the potential to incite anger among communities. In one of the statements, a man from one of the West African countries said: “We are not scared of them Zulus.

We are here to stay in KwaZulu-Natal. This is our (naming his country) homeland now”. The video clips seem to be a response to the ongoing campaign by different groups to prevent children of undocumented foreign nationals from accessing schools and hospitals.

“The King has sent me after hearing that people are unhappy, and rightfully so, following the actions of foreign nationals who are in this country illegally and who have now gone too far by openly showing disrespect towards the Zulu people. “It is known that the government has publicly stated that people who are in the country unlawfully, including those involved in drug dealing and other criminal activities, should return to their home countries. “His Majesty is working closely with the government and agrees that there must be no disrespect or contempt of the kind we are currently witnessing,” said Zulu.
