Kansanshi Dynamos confirm coaching change ahead of new season

Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club has confirmed a change in its technical leadership ahead of the new Super League season, announcing the appointment of Denis Makinka as Head Coach. In a statement issued in Solwezi on Wednesday by Gwen Chipasula, Club Media Public Relations Officer, Fathi’s contract expired on May 31, 2026, bringing to a close his time in charge of the Mabanga Boys which began in November 2025. Club President Douglas Nyirenda said Makinka has been appointed on a 17-month contract effective from 1 August 2026 to 31 December 2027, a deal that supersedes his previous Assistant Coach contract.

Nyirenda thanked Fathi for his service during his time at the club. “We would like to sincerely thank Coach Mohamed Fathi for his dedication, professionalism and commitment during his time with Kansanshi Dynamos. We appreciate his contribution to the Club and wish him nothing but success in the next chapter of his coaching career,” he said.

Nyirenda noted that Fathi joined in November 2025 and guided the team during what it described as an important chapter in its journey. He said the club was looking to build on the work done so far under the new leadership. “We are equally delighted to appoint Denis Makinka as Head Coach.

Denis has been an integral member of our technical team since joining the Club in November 2025. His knowledge of the squad, commitment to the Club’s vision and understanding of our ambitions give us confidence as we embark on this next chapter,” Nyirenda said. He said Makinka first joined Kansanshi Dynamos in November 2025 as Assistant Coach and had played an integral role within the technical bench.

Nyirends said the appointment reflected its confidence in Makinka’s leadership, technical expertise and understanding of the team’s philosophy as it prepares for the upcoming league campaign. To support the new Head Coach, Nyireda confirmed that the existing technical team would remain in place. Yoram Kasempa will continue as Second Assistant Coach, Buchizya Mfune as Physical Trainer, and Humphrey Kapoma as Goalkeeper Trainer. “The new 17-month agreement demonstrates its long-term commitment to technical continuity and stability, ” he said
