Prosper DembedzaOnline CorrespondentTwo suspected armed robbers appeared in court on Thursday facing two cases of armed robbery involving US$ 71 500.Clemence Svongera (44) and Pupurai Kondo (28) appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Marehwanazvo Gofa.The accused persons were advised to approach the High Court for a bail application.The State represented by Rufaro Chonzi alleged that sometime in December 2021, the accused, in the company of their accomplices, robbed the complainant by threatening him with death while armed with pistols.The court heard that the robbery suspects went to Tadram Supermarket in Kuwadzana Extension, and manhandled the security guard Luke Chiwaya of Trust Me Security company who was on night shift.It is alleged that the accused disarmed the guard of a 7.62mm Mosin-Nagant rifle after stealing cash amounting to US$ 71 500 from the safe.In the other case in December 2012, the accused and their accomplices robbed the complainant, Christina Mapurisa, at her residence after confronting her and her son, Yandisa Mhlanga, while they were asleep.The court heard that the accused ordered the complainant to sit on the floor while demanding cash.The complainant indicated that they only had a few notes that were on the headboard.
The court papers report that the accused persons took the complainant’s wallet, stole US$110 and ordered everyone to surrender their cellphones.The accused persons ransacked the house and stole a Samsung J8 cellphone, Covid 19 vaccination card, a Huawei Honor cellphone, a black Dell laptop backpack, an Acer Atensa Laptop, among other electronic gadgets.The suspects demanded the keys of the complainant’s Mercedes-Benz Benz which was parked in the yard. They loaded their loot in the motor vehicle and drove away.The complainants untied themselves and proceeded to the police, where they reported the matter.Leave a ReplyCancel reply
