FORMER home affairs minister Stephen Kampyongo says it is not the mandate of the Zambia Army to end illegal mining in the country. On Monday, Zambia Army Commander Lieutenant General Geoffrey Zyeele said the Army will move in to evict illegal miners in all parts of the country to restore order and protect lives. Lt Zyeele said the Army does not intend to use force but will do so if necessary, adding that there may be consequences such as injuries and loss of life.
