“It’s Not Just About Finding Husbands”: Singles Prayer Event Organiser Clarifies Purpose
On Saturday, 5 April, a sea of over 1,000 women flocked to the Garden of Eden venue in Hatfield for a spiritually charged prayer meeting that had more depth than the stereotypes might suggest.
The gathering was organised by Daughters of Virtue (DOV), widely known as theTadhinihwa Group, as part of their annual calendar of prayer events. While some expected a typical “pray-for-a-husband” session, organisers were quick to clarify that the focus went far beyond marriage.
Ministry spokesperson Pastor Blessed explained that the event was crafted to cater to the unique needs of single people, especially divorced women, who came seeking emotional, spiritual, and social healing. Many had gathered to receive personal prayers from Prophetess Memory Matimbire.
“The Singles prayer day does not necessarily indicate a marriage crisis in Zimbabwe but rather provides a supportive platform for singles, acknowledging the unique challenges they face,” Pastor Blessed said.
The crowd was overwhelmingly female, something the ministry says is normal.
“Few men were present at the event, although women made up the majority of attendees, which is common in many prayer gatherings,” the pastor explained.
He went on to list the many struggles single women face: loneliness, raising children alone, financial pressures, social judgment, and the internal battle of trying to juggle it all without a support system.
“Single women often face challenges such as disappointments, late marriages, caring for children alone, social stigma, financial struggles, emotional isolation, difficulties in balancing work and family responsibilities, among others,” said Pastor Blessed.
DOV isn’t just about singles.
The group also runs several support departments, including one for widows, another for barren women (called the Hannah Department), and dedicated youth-focused events, showing that no one is left behind in their mission of healing and empowerment.
