TECHNICAL Committee on Constitution Amendment Deputy Chairperson Dr Landilani Banda says the recommendations in the report made to President Hakainde Hichilema are a reflection of what citizens submitted. Recently, the Committee submitted a report to the President that by-elections should be maintained. The Committee further recommended, among other things, that the number of members of parliament should increase from 156 to over 276 seats.
In an interview, Monday, Dr Banda said the recommendation of the Committee was nothing more than what it heard and observed from the people. “That [proposal for 276 MPs] was really more than anything else based on the recommendation of the people. It emanated from the submissions.
