Police in Hlanganani have opened an inquest following the tragic death of a six-year-old girl who was found floating in a pit toilet at Wisani Section in Nkuzana village on Friday. Letaba Heraldreportsthat, according to Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the child had been playing outside the family yard with other children when she suddenly went missing. Her mother realised that the girl was no longer in sight and raised the alarm.
Community members immediately searched for her, which led to the discovery of the child floating inside a pit toilet in the area. The girl was removed from the pit and rushed to a local medical health centre, where she was certified dead on arrival. Acting provincial police commissioner Major General Jan Scheepers urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and always be aware of where their children are.
