Innovators converge to create digital solutions

Mthabisi TshumaOnline ReporterINNOVATORS from around the country are today summing up the 2025 Innovation Expo and Conference, which is being organised by telecommunications regulator Potraz.The event, which started on Tuesday and ends today at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre, represents a golden opportunity for Zimbabwe’s brightest minds in technology and innovation to showcase their solutions on a national platform.Their solutions are focused on sectors that include agriculture, health, finance, education and other sectors.In agriculture, some of the solutions include robotics tractors, autonomous greenhouse systems and smart farm sensors.Potraz financed the participation of the innovators. The initiative thereby removes financial barriers, allowing innovators from all corners of Zimbabwe to participate regardless of their economic background.The expo is being held under the theme, “Accelerating the Digital Economy: Building Localized Capacity, Global Partnerships and Leveraging Open Technologies for Sustainable Development”. This reflects Zimbabwe’s commitment to harnessing technology for national progress.The event is focusing on critical sub-themes namely; Smart Cities and Sustainable Infrastructure; Fourth Industrial Revolution and Environmental Conservation; AgriTech and Food Security and FinTech an Economic Growth.Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Deputy Minister Dingimuzi Phuti officiated at the event.He toured stands of over 50 exhibitors with one fascinating being of Perfect Svuure, a Form 2 student from Rimbi High School.
