Socialite Natalie Mhandu appeared in court yesterday over sensational witchcraft allegations, which include claims of spell casting at a farm in Glen View The court heard the allegations on7 August 2025, a day after her initial appearance She was released unconditionally by Harare magistrate Sikhethile Moyo Bail was not discussed as she had been summoned from home
According to the State, Mhandu allegedly asked her former maid,48-year-old Elizabeth Mharire, to join her in visiting a traditional healer,Christine Matashu, also known asManjenjenje “She agreed and they picked up Matashu from Glen Norah before heading to Churu Farm in Glen View,” the State papers allege The court was told that, once at the farm, Matashu allegedly instructed Mhandu on how to perform a ritual “She produced a red cloth and wrote several names, including Mwarianesu, Amanda, Ishmael and Tariro Maumbe,” the papers claim
It is further alleged that Matashu tied snuff to the cloth and instructed Mhandu to dig a hole, bury the cloth and a knife — known in Shona asbakatwa— while uttering her wishes After the act, the three allegedly returned home The State alleges that on5 July 2025, Mharire returned from town and found snuff scattered in her bedroom She allegedly also saw it on the toilet seat
