B-Metro ReporterA MABUTWENI family has been left numb with grief after a 16-year-old boy was found dead in his bedroom, hours after a minor disagreement over a trip to the rural areas.Police confirmed the sudden death of Keith Mhlambeni, saying the case has shaken the community because of its seemingly trivial trigger.Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said in a statement: “Police confirms receiving a sudden death case of Keith Mhlambeni a male juvenile aged 16 of Mabutweni, Bulawayo.”She said Keith’s grandmother, a 71 year old who had just arrived from South Africa, sat down for dinner with her grandsons on 20 November and informed them that they would be accompanying her to Mbembesi for farming.The statement reads: “This did not go well with the deceased who refused to accompany her and they later retired to bed.”What appeared to be a simple family request turned into tragedy by morning.On 21 November at around 6AM, Keith’s 16-year-old cousin entered his room to clean and found him awake but still wrapped in blankets. He told her he needed “enough time to rest.” When she returned at 8AM to check again, he was no longer responding.Panicked, she alerted the grandmother who discovered that the teen was lifeless.Insp Msebele said: “There were traces of vomit stained with blood which shows that he might have ingested poison.
