Whoopi Goldberg, the 70-year-old EGOT winner, has offered a candid glimpse into her personal life, revealing her unconventional approach to relationships and intimacy. Speaking on a recent episode of The View as reported byFace2Face, Goldberg said she is content with being single and engaging in what she described as “hit-and-run” encounters. Her remarks came during a discussion about modern relationships, sparked by an essay in Cosmopolitan exploring the appeal of single life.

“I bar hop, I go hang,” Goldberg said, before clarifying her relationship status: “I am single. I do hit-and-runs when I need it, but I am not married to anybody and I don’t have responsibilities.” The actress, known for films like Sister Act, has long expressed reservations about traditional relationships. In a past interview, she noted that not everyone is suited for long-term partnerships, saying some people may be better off embracing independence.

“I don’t want to live with anybody,” she said. “I have lots of people that I love, but I don’t need them living with me.” Goldberg has been married three times—to Alvin Martin, David Claessen, and Lyle Trachtenberg—and shares a daughter with Martin.During a 2024 appearance on Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?, she further explained her stance on marriage, suggesting that the emotional investment required in a partnership is not something she seeks. Despite her preference for independence, Goldberg emphasised that she remains deeply connected to her family and close friends, saying those relationships continue to be a central part of her life.
