Rutendo Nyeve, Victoria Falls ReporterA 62 year old Hwange man on Tuesday appeared at the Victoria Falls Magistrates Court on charges of raping his 12-year-old daughter.The man (name withheld) who resides at his own homestead in Breakfast Village 2, Matetsi, appeared before Magistrate Tafara Machaya facing a charge of rape.Prosecutor Mr Douglas Ntini outlined the state’s case, alleging that on an unknown date during the year 2024, at around 11am, the accused committed the offence at his homestead.The court heard that the complainant, a juvenile, was seated on a sofa in her father’s bedroom watching videos when the accused approached her.“The accused person told the complainant who is his granddaughter a female juvenile aged 12 years that he loved her, he then pulled her by her arm and told the complainant not to scream or else he was going to beat her,” said Prosecutor Ntini.It is the state’s allegation that the accused then forcefully removed the girl’s trousers and pant, laid her on the bed, and had unprotected sexual intercourse with her without her consent.After the act, the accused allegedly wiped the complainant and let her go.The prosecutor told the court that the traumatised victim did not report the incident to anyone due to fear of the accused’s threats.The matter only came to light following a tip-off received at ZRP Jambezi on the 22 November 2025.Police investigations were swiftly initiated, leading to Ncube’s arrest.Mr Ntini said the state’s evidence against the accused is anchored on a positive identification by the complainant, who is prepared to testify.Furthermore, a medical report was obtained which, according to the prosecution, proves that sexual penetration was effected.Magistrate Machaya remanded the accused to 10 December and advised to apply for bail at the High Court due to the nature of the offence.
