A 33-year-old woman from Chiredzi, Qiniso Mthunzana, has been remanded in custody to October 1, 2025, by the Chiredzi Magistrates’ Court for allegedly facilitating a young person to engage in immoral activity in her employer’s home. The allegations are that between June 1 and August 30, 2025, Mthunzana allowed a 13-year-old girl to engage in inappropriate activity within the residence where she was employed as a domestic worker. Court documents state that the matter came to light following a police investigation, which eventually led to the arrest of the accused.
Authorities allege that the accused neglected her responsibility and enabled the minor to engage in the acts in question. During the court appearance, the magistrate ordered that Mthunzana remain in custody until the next hearing. She was not asked to plead to the charges.
The State prosecutor argued that the matter was of a serious nature and that releasing the accused on bail could compromise ongoing investigations. The court agreed with the State’s position and ruled that she should remain in custody. Police confirmed that they have recorded statements from the complainant and other witnesses.

“We are continuing with investigations to establish the full circumstances of the case,” a police spokesperson said. The prosecution further alleged that the accused was aware of the activities and failed to take action to protect the child. It was argued that this conduct directly contributed to the continuation of the offence. The case is set to return to court on October 1, 2025, when further proceedings are expected to take place.
