HARARE Metropolitan Cricket Association (HMCA) has imposed sanctions on Rainbow Cricket Club coach Blessing Mafuva following a disciplinary hearing into misconduct involving Zimbabwe international Sikandar Raza. Mafuva was been fined US$200 and suspended for five matches. The HMCAโs disciplinary committee convened under Section G of the Zimbabwe Cricket Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials and found Mafuva guilty of conduct that brought the game into disrepute.
The committeeโs decision follows an altercation between Mafuva and Raza during a league fixture between Rainbow and Old Hararians Sports Club in June 2025. โMafuva pleaded guilty to the charges and expressed remorse, choosing not to contest the proceedings,โ read a statement from HMCA general manager Moses Chitare. โThe committee determined that Mafuva had been the aggressor and, as a senior club coach, failed to demonstrate the restraint and leadership expected of his position.โ The five-match suspension will be served during the 2025/2026 Vigne Cup first league season under the HMCA. โThe HMCA has declared the matter closed and urged all stakeholders to move forward in the interests of the game.โ
