Zambia’s President Hakainde Hichilema is set to deliver the keynote address at the opening of the Investing in African Mining Indaba 2026 on Feb. 9, organizers said on Thursday. Organizers say Hichilema’s attendance comes as Zambia accelerates mining-sector reforms aimed at improving regulatory certainty, boosting transparency and deploying new technologies to attract investment.

“President Hichilema’s leadership is reshaping Zambia’s mining environment, and his address will be a major highlight of Mining Indaba 2026,” it indicated said. “Digital licensing, stronger geological data and modernized regulation are restoring investor confidence,” are quoted to have said. Hichilema is expected to outline plans to scale up copper and critical mineral production through technology-driven efficiencies and responsible investment as global demand for energy transition minerals rises.

“We anticipate the President will set out a forward-looking vision that leverages innovation to strengthen Zambia’s competitiveness,” the statement said. Mining Indaba, Africa’s largest mining investment conference, brings together governments, investors and industry leaders for dialogue on policy, investment and sustainable growth.
