The South African Weather Service (Saws) has issued a level 2 storm warning for large parts of KZN for Monday. The weather office said the severe thunderstorms will be accompanied by heavy downpours, damaging winds, excessive lightning, and large amounts of small hail in the north-western parts of KZN. Dlamini-Zuma -Underberg, eDumbe, eMadlangeni, Endumeni, Greater Kokstad, Impendle, Ingwe, Inkosi Langalibalele Estcourt, Inkosi Langalibalele Sobabili, Mpofana Giants Castle, Mpofana Mooi River, Msinga, Newcastle, Nquthu, Okhahlamba, Richmond, Msunduzi, uMngeni, uMshwathi, UMuziwabantu, Umvoti and uMzimkhulu. Residents should expect the rain to cause damage to infrastructure and settlements, flooding of roads and bridges and large amounts of small hail/ large hail. Saws urged residents to take caution or avoid travelling on bridges and roads in low-lying areas, as these may be susceptible to flooding.

โ€œAvoid outdoor activities as lightning, hail and flooding may result in injuries and death. If possible, stay indoors well clear of windows, shelter pets, and cover vehicles. Move livestock and cars to safe sheltered areas as there may be flying debris,โ€ said Saws.
