Govt to refurbish all schools

President Advocate Duma Boko has announced that all schools across the country will be refurbished as part of government efforts to improve public infrastructure. Speaking during the National Cleanup Campaign in Gaborone on March 14, President Boko said government had established a special company that would be responsible for the refurbishment and maintenance of schools and teachers’ residences. He explained that the initiative formed part of the broader cleanup campaign, which went beyond litter picking and focused on rehabilitating public spaces, improving lighting in cities, planting trees and maintaining infrastructure to create cleaner, safer and more attractive communities.

Also, he said its intention was to tackle pollution, waste management, and environmental degradation to protect natural Botswana’s natural environment. President Boko also emphasised the importance of well-lit streets and neighbourhoods to ensure safety as well as to enhance the beauty of the city. He emphasised citizens’ role in maintaining cleanliness, protecting waterways and preserving ecosystems.
