Govt. to improve Kazungula-Sesheke road

President Hakainde Hichilema has reiterated government’s commitment to improve the Kazungula-Sesheke road as part of government’s efforts to improve road infrastructure and accelerate development in Southern Province. The President also pledged increased investment in agriculture through the establishment of maize depots, expansion of water schemes, improved health and education services, and rehabilitation of feeder roads. He further assured farmers supplying maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) of timely mobile payments.

“Farmers who deliver maize to FRA will continue receiving their payments on time because agriculture remains a priority for this government,” he said. “We have brought free education, increased the Constituency Development Fund, recruited teachers and nurses, and we are ready to do even more. Vote for the UPND so that development can continue,” he said.Kazungula District Commissioner, Elias Siamibila commended President Hichilema for prioritising the district’s development, citing the 135-megawatt solar energy project set to be connected to the national grid and improvements to the road network.“The road from Zimba to Nyawa has greatly improved, making it easier for farmers to transport their produce to markets, while the solar project will transform economic activities in the district,” Mr Siamibila said.And Chief Nyawa praised the government for bringing development to his chiefdom, describing the improved road network and construction of a mini hospital as milestones for the area.“We have witnessed real development in this chiefdom through improved roads, a mini hospital and other projects.
