Govt. to construct skills training centre in…

President Hakainde Hichilema has pledged to establish a fully-fledged skills training centre in Kalomo District as part of government’s efforts to expand access to technical and vocational education. Speaking during a public engagement at Village Green in Kalomo, President Hichilema said the proposed institution would equip young people with practical skills to improve employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. “We will establish a fully-fledged skills training centre here in Kalomo, to empower our young people with skills for sustainable livelihoods,” he said.

The President said the United Party for National Development (UPND) had recorded significant social and economic progress in the four years and eleven months it has been in office.“We have made significant progress, but we recognise that more work remains to be done to move our country forward,” President Hichilema said.He directed local authorities to put earth-moving equipment procured under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to good use by rehabilitating feeder roads across the district.The Head of State also announced that government would increase the number of beneficiaries under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP), provide cattle livestock loans, employ volunteer workers in various sectors and construct additional mobile network towers.President Hichilema further assured residents that government would rehabilitate the Kalomo-Mapatizya and Kalomo-Dundumwezi roads to improve connectivity and support economic activities.He appealed to the people of Kalomo to vote for him and the UPND in the August 13, 2026 general elections to enable the party to continue implementing its development agenda.“We are asking for your support once again so that we can continue delivering development and complete the programmes we have started,” President Hichilema said.He added that he was confident Zambians would give the UPND a second term in office considering the massive developments scored.
