Goshen City has rewarded the first and second runners-up of the Miss Malawi 2025 pageant following the finale held on December 13 in Lilongwe. The announcement came on Monday during the presentation of Miss Malawi winner’s prize to Thandie Chisi. Goshen City founder Prophet Shepherd Bushiri of the Enlightened Christian Gathering-Jesus Nation, disclosed the awards as he presented a K50 million prize to Chisi.
He said K12 million will be given to the first and second runners-up in recognition of their effort and commitment during the competition. “As Goshen City, we are not just about building a city. That is why we partner others to build hopes and dreams, especially among young people.
The K12 million has been given to the runners-up to motivate them,” he said. While in some cases runners-up walk away with prizes, this was not the case at the Miss Malawi finale. Speaking in a separate interview, Miss Malawi Organisation head of sponsorship Godfrey Kambewa said the two runners-up are supposed to receive prizes, but the nature of sponsorship limited the organisers.

“Most of our sponsors supported with products. We also had to channel resources towards service providers to pull off such a big event,” he said. Kambewa, however, was quick to say that going forward the organisation will ensure that prizes for runners-up are included in the planning.
“We have secured a long-term partnership with Goshen City. This will be included in our next plan so that the first and second runners-up walk away with prizes,” he said. Kambewa said the organisers have decided that the first runner-up Irene Navicha receives K7 million while second runner-up Tina Nkombezi gets with K5 million from the K12 million.
Meanwhile, crowned Miss Malawi Thandie Chisi commended Goshen City for sponsoring the K50 million package and for rewarding the runners-up, adding that among others, the money will be crucial in carrying out projects as Miss Malawi. Chisi also said through her founded organisation Sustainable Fashion and Women Empowerment (SFWE), she will use her platform to empower more young women and girls. “Considering that I have personal projects under my founded organisation this will be an opportunity for me to amplify the work I have been doing to empower young women and girls,” she said.
