SUNGURA musician Gift Amuli is engulfed in a US$4,000 fraud storm after he allegedly sold a non-existent residential stand to a Harare woman. The deal involved the exchange of a vehicle for a residential stand. A 39-year-old Budiriro woman, Memory Kubungaidze, told H-Metro that she exchanged her VW Golf Carravela Wagon for what she was led to believe was a residential stand in Seke.

Kubungaidze said she only realised the stand did not exist after Amuli allegedly blocked her calls. She checked with Seke Rural District Council officials who told her the address did not match any stand in their property portfolio. “Amuli lied to me that he had a residential stand for sale in Seke and we agreed to exchange the stand with my vehicle,” Kubungaidze said.

“I smelt a rat when he blocked my calls and his wife said she was not aware of the deal.” She has since reported the matter at Machipisa Police Station. Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed that police were investigating a fraud case involving a local musician. He said the accused allegedly approached the complainant in July 2025, misrepresenting that he owned a residential stand at a farm in Seke. Amuli spent last weekend in police custody after he was accused by fellow musician First Farai of cyberbullying.
