Police in Balaka District have arrested four employees of Portland Cement Company at Ng’onga Site for theft by servant after they were found linked to the theft of 36 bags of cement worth about K1 million.Balaka Police Station spokesperson Inspector Gladson M’bumpha confirmed the arrests, identifying the suspects as, Khumbo Adams, 40, Chisomo KuMalawi, 25, Tony Namaheya, 32, and Davison Tembo, 51, who allegedly stole the cement on Friday, June 5, 2029, before selling it to a private buyer.M’bumpha said the case came to light after a tip-off from a well-wisher who reported suspicious offloading of cement bags from a vehicle linked to the Ng’onga site at the house of Aubrey Chambo.Police moved in and searched the house where 36 bags of cement packed in sacks were recovered.During questioning, Chambo allegedly admitted buying the cement for K1 million and implicated the four employees as the suppliers.Investigations later took officers back to the cement site where Chambo reportedly identified the suspects as the ones who delivered the stolen goods. The four suspects are expected to appear in court after investigations are completed.
