Zambia’s football governing body has appointed a 17-member Commercial and Marketing Advisory Committee as it seeks to strengthen its financial position and expand revenue sources, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) said on Tuesday. FAZ spokesperson, Nkweto Tembwe, said the committee was created after a resolution of the executive committee and would operate as an ad hoc body under FIFA provisions to guide the association’s commercial strategy, including sponsorship, marketing and investment initiatives. The members included Absa Bank Zambia CEO Mizinga Melu, Zamtel Customer Experience Director Hazel Couvaras, Independent Broadcasting Authority CEO Webster Malido, presidential advisor on investment Jito Kayumba and Lusaka lawyer Lewis Mosho.
Tembwe said the committee, whose term runs for 24 months from May 1, would support FAZ’s efforts to clear legacy debts, identify new income streams and secure the financial sustainability of Zambian football.
