First National Bank (FNB), has confirmed that it will reverse duplicate transactions that were mistakenly charged to some customers after a technical processing error. One of the country’s major banks,First National Bank(FNB), says it will reverse duplicate transactions that were mistakenly charged to some customers after a technical processing error affected a number of its virtual cards. This comes after several customers raised concerns online earlier this week, saying they noticed multiple charges for the same purchases on their accounts and sought clarity from the bank about the unexpected deductions.

Some customers said the unexpected deductions disrupted their plans, with one user posting online that they woke up to an empty account after the duplicate charges. Responding to questions from IOL on Friday, the bank confirmed that a technical processing error affecting a number of its virtual cards resulted in duplicate transactions being processed on some customers’ accounts. “A technical processing error affecting a number of our virtual cards has resulted in some duplicated transactions” the bank said.

The bank added that it has identified the source of the error and is working to reverse all duplicate charges as soon as possible, while apologising to customers affected by the glitch. “FNB has identified the source of the error and will reverse all duplicate charges as soon as possible. The matter is being urgently resolved and we apologise to all affected customers” the bank added.
