South Africanaviationis once again making headlines as FlySafair and South African Airways (SAA) have been recognised as the most punctual airlines in the Middle East and Africa. This accolade was revealed in the January 2026 Airlines & Airports On-Time Performance Report by Cirium, highlighting a significant improvement in the operational performance of these carriers.
FlySafair, a low-cost carrier (LCC) specialising in domestic and regionalflights,ranked first on the list of the most on-time airlines. The airline achieved an impressive91.81% on-time arrival rateacross 5,434 tracked flights. This performance places FlySafair at the forefront of the aviation industry in the region.
SAA followed closely behind, securing the second position and earning the title of the most on-time national carrier in the Africa andMiddle Eastregion. According to the January report, SAA recorded an87.12% on-time arrival ratefor2,743 flights, marking a strong improvement in its operational metrics.
